Graphic designing contrary to misconceptions was quite popular before the invention of the Printing Press a.k.a Gutenberg press.

Advent of printing press altered the course of history due to it’s wide ranging advantages and uses. Printing press was used to recreate text, art and design. This also led to the invention of newspaper. The ancestors of modern companies realized that visual designs could affect shopping behavior which ultimately gave rise to the modern graphics.
One of the first logos printed were used to determine the quality of the print available. Clear logos meant clear print. One of the first advertisements started with the printing of newspapers. Technological advancements led to printing in color and chromolithography.
