The world may have shut down,

But our spirits cannot be broken

The future might look bleak

But the present is yours to control

Suffering all around us

Yet it won’t overshadow the kindness

Different countries, different states, different cities

We are all in this together.

Every day might be a struggle

A different kind of fight

An invisible enemy

Our own mind

Hard times create tough people

During these unprecedented and uncertain times, its easy to get swayed by the negativity fostering all around us. It takes effort to look at the bright side. The typical effects of a lockdown might be as follows:

  • Feelings of fear, anger, sadness, worry, numbness, or frustration
  • Changes in appetite, energy, desires, and interests
  • Difficulty concentrating and making decisions
  • Difficulty sleeping or nightmares
  • Worsening of mental health conditions
  • Increased use of substances to cope.

It’s easy to feel lost and hopeless. But the thing to remember is you can’t control anything but yourself. Your mental well-being is the most important factor during these confusing times. Life doesn’t happen to you, you create it. If you wallow in your sadness you will never grow. You are the one who creates your destiny but you’re also the one who creates mediocrity for yourself. Now we can mollycoddle you tell you its going to be okay. You can rest, you can just not do anything if you don’t feel like it but its just glorifying doing nothing. The problems might be complicated but the solution is always simple.

What now?

  • Take responsibility for your life. If not now, then when?
  • Stop excessive consumption of negativity. The media has a job to do but its not your job to focus on everything that’s happening around you.
  • Stay healthy. In the limited space and the limited time you are allowed to spend, do it on healthy activities. A healthy body will ultimately lead to a healthy mind.
  • Read inspirational and positive books. Its easy to be negative, it takes courage to be positive during hardships. If not anything maybe it will help the people near you find hope and reduce their stress.
  • Laugh. Its free.

Conclusion

In conclusion, we would like to say that designers or not, you are humans first. Its okay to feel strong emotions. One must always put their mental health first. Thank you and stay tuned for more articles from Up Studio!
